Pamukkale

Turkey's photogenic spot, known as Pamukkale or the (Cotton Castle), is a unique geological phenomenon, located in the province of Denizli, as It got its name from appearing to look much like fluffy cotton from a distance.

 

The area is well known for its numerous mineral-rich thermal pools flowing down the snow-white limestone formations shaped naturally as terraces and cascading pools are not the only attraction in Pamukkale. 

 

The ancient Greco-Roman city of Hierapolis was built on top of the travertine formation, in total about 2,700 meters long, 600m wide, and 160 m high. Known as Hierapolis or the “Holy City” recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1988 along with Pamukkale.
