VISA & TRAVEL TIPS
It's recommended that foreigners, who wish to visit Turkey, should read the related information about our country’s visa regime.
Visa regime for Touristic and Business visits may differ from Work and Educational purposes visits. Also, Turkey’s visa regime may change according to the reciprocity principle.
While some applicants may be exempt from visas when visiting Turkey, others can obtain an e-Visa. Those who require an entry visa can apply to obtain a visa through Turkish Representations abroad.

It is possible to obtain an e-Visa inn approximately 3 minutes. The applicants can obtain their visa after they fill in the necessary information concerning their identity, passport, and travel dates then pay the visa fee online. Citizens of countries that have an e-Visa agreement with Turkey may apply and get a Visa online. For more information on the e-Visa for Turkey, see https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/. Please note that e-Visa is only valid when the purpose of travel is tourism or commerce. For other purposes, such as work and study, visas are given by Turkish Embassies or Consulates.
Turkey has a wide variety of visa categories that can be broken down into further options, including:
Tourist Visa
Tourist visas issued to visitors last up to 90 days; if one obtains a Turkey tourist visa from the border, it would only be applicable for one-time use, which means they’ll have to apply for a new one.
Business Visa
It is similar to a Tourist Visa, as it is also issued for 90 days. But one is most definitely required to submit proof of business in Turkey to apply.
Student Visa
Students can apply for a Student Visa after enrollment in a University or school in Turkey while also requiring a letter of enrollment. After arriving in Turkey, they’ll need to register in the Foreigner’s branch of a local police department within 30 days to obtain a residence permit.
Residence Visa
With two types of residence visas, whether short or long term.
Short-term residence visas are applicable for foreigners who own real estate in Turkey or who intend to establish a business. For long-term visas, it is usually applicable for foreigners that have resided in Turkey for over 8 years.
Submit the application to the Turkish Embassy or Consulate for a residency.
Work Visa
A person must apply two to three months before their departure for a Work Visa in Turkey. Documents must be sent to the Turkish Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MLSS) provided by their employer to enable the visa process.
Research Visa
If one is applying for a Research Visa to conduct an archaeological site or research areas in general, one will need to apply to the Turkish Embassy or Consulate, which will then be forwarded to the Turkish government to review. Once approved, anyone applying may proceed with payments and other formalities.
Film Visa
If traveling to Turkey to shoot a commercial or documentary film, for instance, one will be requested to apply for a Film Visa by first applying to the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Transportation Visa
Generally obtained by truckers and haulers in Turkey, the validity of a Transportation Visa is acquired for about one year.
